Watch service overview

Three services. Each one described in full before anything starts.

Tickraft offers crown tube replacement, hand and dial touch-up, and the Heritage Refurbishment Programme. Each service has its own pace, its own process, and its own cost — all of which are shared openly.

The same approach, regardless of which service you need

Every job at Tickraft follows the same opening sequence: the watch is examined, photographed, and assessed before any work begins. An estimate is given. If the owner agrees, the work proceeds. If the bench finds something unexpected during the job, the owner is contacted before going further.

This does not vary by service type. A crown tube replacement gets the same intake care as a full heritage refurbishment — the scale of the work is different, but the way information is gathered and shared is the same.

At collection, every watch comes with a note of what was found and what was done. Heritage pieces get a full printed record. Smaller jobs get a summary. Nothing is returned without the owner knowing what was on the bench.

1

Intake and assessment

Watch examined, photographed, condition noted. Estimate given before work begins.

2

Work commences with agreement

Owner confirms scope. Bench proceeds only with clear understanding of what is being done.

3

Updates during the job

Photographs and notes shared at key stages. Any change in scope discussed before proceeding.

4

Collection with documentation

Watch returned with a clear account of what was done. Heritage pieces include full printed record.

Crown tube replacement work

Crown Tube Replacement

Replacement of damaged crown tubes for water-resistant watches. The job covers alignment, gasket fitting, and a post-fit visual check. The bench reviews the condition of nearby case threads and shares any concerns before proceeding. The work is quick when straightforward, longer when threads need cleaning — and the owner is kept informed of pacing as it progresses. Recommended for daily-use sport pieces with worn crowns.

What is included:

  • Intake assessment and thread condition check
  • Crown tube sourced and fitted correctly for the case
  • New gasket sized and seated properly
  • Post-fit visual check of crown and case alignment
  • Intake and completion photographs

Process steps:

1Case and thread examined at intake
2Correct tube sourced for the case model
3Threads cleaned if needed (owner advised)
4Tube and gasket fitted with correct torque
5Post-fit visual check and collection

Dial and hand cosmetic work

Hand and Dial Touch-Up

Light cosmetic work on watch hands and dials. This covers lume re-application where suitable, hand straightening, and gentle dust removal. The bench prefers conservative work over aggressive restoration — keeping the dial's existing character intact is the priority. Photographs are shared before and after so the owner can see the change clearly. Recommended for vintage pieces with mild patina rather than heavily damaged dials.

What is included:

  • Dial surface assessment and condition photograph
  • Careful dust removal without surface damage
  • Hand straightening where hands are misaligned
  • Lume re-application where agreed and appropriate
  • Before and after photographs for the owner

Process steps:

1Dial and hands photographed and assessed
2Scope agreed with owner before work begins
3Dust removal and hand straightening carried out
4Lume re-applied if agreed (period-appropriate material)
5Completion photograph taken and watch returned

A multi-week programme for inherited or older watches that need careful, slow attention. Standards that apply to every job

Documented intake

Every watch is photographed at intake. Condition is noted and the record kept with the job file throughout.

Secure storage

Watches not on the bench are stored in a locked cabinet. The workshop is not left unattended while customer pieces are present.

No scope changes without consent

If something unexpected is found, the owner is contacted before proceeding. No additions are made without agreement.

Correct parts for the watch

Replacement parts are matched to the watch's case and period. Substitutions are discussed before fitting.

Honest timelines

Estimates are given at intake and updated if the scope or complexity changes. The owner is never surprised at collection.

Post-work quality check

Every job is checked visually before it leaves the bench. Heritage pieces have timing figures verified after reassembly.

Clear prices, no surprises

Prices listed are starting prices. Final cost depends on the watch's condition and any additional work agreed during assessment. All prices in Malaysian Ringgit (RM).
